I don't care. You are just pissing me off.

The Olympic torch passed through Toronto today and yesterday on it's way to Vancouver for the winter olympics. One thing that happened was that there were protestors who blocked the route and generally caused trouble. What they were protesting about I'm not really sure, I think it was something to do with the cost and how much money could be spent on other things. I don't really care. The fact is that protestors are getting out of hand. I know that it is our charter right as canadians to have freedom of assembly but seriously it is getting out of hand. I think if you have an issue with something that's going on then go ahead and protest but do it paecefully and legally. There are laws that are supposed to stop protests from getting out of hand but as we have all seen, they aren't working well. I think the police are partly to blame for this. Back in the spring when the Tamils were protesting whatever was going on with their country there was one occasion where they walked onto the gardiner expressway (a highway) and sat there blocking traffic. The shocking part was that many of them brought their kids with them! And then with all the rush hour traffic sitting there getting really pissed off the police turned the cars off the highway and left the protestors on the highway! I don't know about you but if I had been the police officer in charge of dealing with the situation I would have arrested the lot of them. I don't care if you protest but there are certain things you can do that do not promote awareness to your cause (which is the general idea of a protest) but simply piss people off and make them hate you. I think it's a bit too late to be protesting about the olympics don't you? Why not sit back and enjoy the games like the rest of us.

No more happy holidays

I would like to start this post by saying merry Christmas. I am fed up with the Christmas season being called the "holiday season". The whole reason that there is a "holiday season" is because of christmas. I celebrate christmas so why am I not allowed to say merry Christmas?I remember when the "winter break" used to be the Christmas break and when there used to be Christmas lights and Christmas sales and a general Christmas season. Somehow someone got an idiot idea and changed it because there are other religious holidays around the same time as christmas. So everything changed. Christmas lights became "holiday lights" and Christmas trees became "holiday trees" and we now have holiday decorations. Let me tell you something. I don't give a F**k that other holidays are around Christmas. Because I celebrate Christmas it is the Christmas season to me and always will be. If you want to celebrate another holiday then happy Hanukkah or eid or Ramadan. I don't care. If you wish me happy Ramadan I will say the same back. But if you insist on keeping "happy holidays" then I expect Jewish people to light their "holiday candelabra" and spin their "holiday top". I don't think that only Christmas should suffer the name changes. I'll tell you on thing. I will soon be putting up my Christmas lights and decorating my Christmas tree so I can have a good Christmas season. I will also be wishing you merry christmas and if anyone says "happy holidays" to me I will ask you to make up your mind about which holiday you are celebrating.

I will even accept "happy festivus".

I think it's ALL about religion.

So I'm sitting here watching Barack Obama give a speech at west point military academy and only one thing he has said so far has really made me think. He was talking about "American blood that has been spilled all over the world" and how "it is not about different religion" that is causing conflict. Now is it just me or is that exactly what it is about. One of the things that I have noticed the war in Afghanistan is about is sharia law (sorry about the spelling if it's wrong) and how women don't have rights because of it. Sharia law is aparently something to do with following the Quran (sorry, spelling) which is the Muslim holy book. Now fighting against this means that the USA's troops are fighting in another country because of a different religion. Hmm... Explain that one Mr. President.

While I'm ranting I might as well give my position about the war in Afghanistan. I think that it is a lost cause. I think that the Canadian government should stop wasting money and Canadian lives and reassess the situation or get the hell out of there. So far re government has spent BILLIONS of dollars on this war. And what do they have to show for it. Dead soldiers and a rise in violence. I read an article that said that violence was going down is certain areas but then it's going up in other areas. What does that mean. Violence hasn't gone down. It's just moved around the country. Basically nothing has been done.
